NATIONAL INDUSTRY 4.0 PLAN INTRODUCTION Italy is a large industrial country. Our manufacturing companies represent the engine of economic growth and development, with their ability to produce wealth and employment, fuel related industries and service activities, and contribute to financial, economic and social stability. Creating a business-friendly environment therefore responds to a specific public interest. Industrial policy has returned to the center of the Government's agenda and the tools that we have introduced start from a reading of the structure of the Italian economy, characterized by widespread entrepreneurship, and take into account the new phase of globalization and technological changes that we are experiencing. The Industry 4.0 Plan is a great opportunity for all companies that want to seize the opportunities linked to the fourth industrial revolution: the Plan provides a set of organic and complementary measures capable of encouraging investments for innovation and competitiveness. All the measures that proved effective have been strengthened and addressed in a 4.0 logic and, to fully respond to emerging needs, new ones have been envisaged.
Knowing how to grasp this challenge, however, does not only concern the Government, but it especially concerns entrepreneurs. This is why we wanted to change the paradigm: we designed measures that every company can activate automatically without resorting to tenders or help desks and, above all, without dimensional, sectoral or territorial constraints. What the Government is proposing, committing significant resources in the coming years, is a true pact of trust with the world of businesses that want to grow and innovate. Industry 4.0 affects all aspects of the life cycle of companies that want to gain competitiveness, offering support in investments, in the digitalisation of production processes, in enhancing worker productivity, in the training of adequate skills and in the development of new products and processes. The success of the Industry 4.0 Plan will depend on the extent to which each individual entrepreneur uses the measures made available.
